If you can, thank an English teacher. If you continued to read, thank your public library. Public libraries have historically provided free resources to readers of all ages. However, due to recent budget cuts, libraries are going the way of the Asiatic Lion, Siberian Tiger, and Red Panda: in danger of disappearing forever! Oh my!
This coming Saturday, April 9th, educators, librarians, writers and students from around Lancaster county will unite to read for the first annual Relay for Libraries.

Books were a huge part of my childhood, and are still a significant part of my life. In a book, I could explore jungles, solve murder-mysteries, and learn about myself as an individual through the perspectives of characters in novels. While I spend most of my time now reading for classes, there are some books (and movies about reading-- as well as movies based on books) that have never ceased to capture my imagination, and remind me just how exhilarating it is to get lost in a great book.
If you can, join Literati, and Elizabethtown College on April 9th in our endeavor to show support and raise money for the Elizabethtown Public Library so that future generations may experience the same opportunities for learning that we have had.
